Family estrangement rarely follows a straight path. It is often marked by shock, confusion, grief, self-examination, difficult decisions, and, eventually, some measure of acceptance.

The chapters below explore different aspects of that journey. While many readers will find it helpful to read them in order, each chapter can also stand on its own.
